Overview: As more and more companies focus their software development effort toward compliance with CMMI and other certification, Testing is still considered as a (final) activity during the development process. Unfortunately, this often is the path to more expensive software, longer development and testing cycles, and finally, questionable acceptance from the unpleased customer. The goal of this half day seminar is to introduce the concept of Quality Control as a process focused on a business goal rather than the traditional testing task. We will clarify some basic concepts that are most of the time confused, identify how to relate Quality Control to business objectives, and show what value is added thanks to this approach. We will talk about risk identification, and define simple techniques to ensure a smooth transition from testing as a task to Quality Control as a process.
