Objective: To teach the fundamentals of securing and hardening Microsoft Windows systems and networks, and to demonstrate tools to aid in this endeavor.
Audience/Expected Skill Level: Intermediate and experienced system administrators and technical security practitioners
Format: Lab
Overview: This hands-on seminar will enable system administrators and security practitioners to better secure their Microsoft Windows servers and networks. Using Microsoft and other open-source tools, this seminar will focus on examining the risks of "out of the box" configurations and help students incorporate security best practices into Windows environments.

Casey Priester is Director of Operations at Prometheus Global, a full-service security consulting firm, specializing in penetration testing, vulnerability assessments, secure network design and secure systems engineering. He holds a number of Information Security certifications, including Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), Systems Security Certified Professional (SSCP) and Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH). He is the author of the article "So You Say You Want a Penetration Test…", published in the 11/3 issue of the IATAC Newsletter, a DoD-sponsored publication.In addition to his security certifications, Casey has also earned his Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE). He has been working with Windows security for over 10 years.
